We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the App, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and services, or otherwise contact us.

• Account Data: First name, last name, email address, and password.
• Profile & Farm Data: If you are an agricultural producer, we collect your farm’s name, address, business details, operating hours, products, and related images.
• User-Generated Content: Messages sent to other users, update posts, photos, comments, and event listings.
• Location Data: We request access to your device’s location to calculate the distance between you and local farms or events. We do not track your location in the background.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect or receive to:

• Facilitate account creation and logon processes.
• Provide and operate the HarvestNS platform, connecting consumers with local producers.
• Enable user-to-user communications (e.g., direct messaging).
• Enforce our terms, conditions, and policies (including reviewing flagged or reported content).
• Respond to legal requests and prevent harm.

3. Will Your Information Be Shared?

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill business obligations.

• Publicly Shared Data: Information on Farm Profiles, public updates, events, and comments are visible to other users of the App.
• Service Providers: We share necessary data with third-party vendors (such as our database hosting provider) strictly to operate the App.

4. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law. When you choose to delete your account using the in-app deletion tool, your personal data and user-generated content are permanently removed from our active databases.

Terms of Service

Welcome to HarvestNS! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the HarvestNS mobile application. By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The HarvestNS Platform

HarvestNS acts solely as a digital platform to connect consumers with local agricultural producers in Nova Scotia. We are not a party to any transaction. HarvestNS does not handle payments, fulfill orders, or guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any products listed by producers. Any arrangements made through the App are strictly between the consumer and the producer.

2. User Accounts

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account.

3. User-Generated Content (UGC)

HarvestNS allows users to post updates, photos, events, and send direct messages (“Content”).

• Zero Tolerance Policy: We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content or abusive users. You agree not to post or send any Content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
• Ownership: You retain ownership of the Content you post, but you grant HarvestNS a license to use, display, and distribute that Content within the App.

4. Moderation, Reporting, and Blocking

To ensure a safe community, HarvestNS provides built-in tools to manage your interactions:

• Blocking: You may block any user at any time. Blocking a user will immediately hide their updates and prevent them from sending you direct messages.
• Reporting: You may flag updates, profiles, or messages for review.
• Enforcement: HarvestNS administrators reserve the right to review reported content and, at our sole discretion, remove objectionable content and suspend or permanently ban users who violate these Terms, without prior notice.

5. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via the settings menu in the App. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.

6. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our App after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
